The statement below will be shared with students on Monday.
On Friday, it was discovered that a student had brought a handgun to school. There is no evidence that the student brought it to hurt or harm anyone.
Due to the seriousness of this, the student is not at school now.
The sheriff's department and our SROs will be around the schools more to make everyone feel safer and to help ensure the safety and security of all the students and staff.
A few students on the bus told their parents what they saw, which was the right thing to do. Remember. If you SEE SOMETHING. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SAY SOMETHING.
Everyone is safe, and there was never a threat, but we know this is a scary situation. Let’s all take a few minutes to discuss it, and then we can start our day.

Remember, the RHS yearbook staff and advisor, Mrs. Osborne, have final approval of all photos submitted for inclusion in the yearbook. The deadline to submit photos is March 14, 2025, so get those photos in today!

2023-2024 Yearbooks have arrived and are available for pick-up during regular school hours. Please contact Mrs. Valerie Osborne for more information.
2024-2025 yearbooks are available for pre-order for $50 until September 13, 2024. After this date the price increases to $60. To purchase a yearbook, see Mrs. Osborne in room 111 or use the link below to purchase.
Senior recognition ads for the yearbook may be purchased using the link below. If you wish to purchase a senior recognition ad, please use the link below to pay and reserve your page.
All photos used for the pages will be turned in to Mrs. Osborne in room 111 or sent to her email (vosborne@dcps.k12.va.us)
The Josten’s representative will return on August 27 to take class ring, graduation, and letterman jacket orders. Any sophomore or senior who missed the meeting, see Mrs. Jones in 307 for a packet.
